Professional Licensed Land Surveyor – Utah – 13 Years
2011 – Current

  • Specialized in performing complete and detailed boundary surveys and resolving property disputes.
  • Advocated for property owners in the use of their property as the law allows, through the land development process.
  • Evaluated, created, and mapped legal descriptions from deeds, surveys, subdivisions and other land record documents.
  • Determined title rights of property owners by carefully analyzing and interpreting deeds, physical evidence found on the ground, and witness statements of land owners.

Elected County Recorder – Cache County – 2.5 Years
2021 – 2023

  • Directed the elected office of nine full time employees and six mapping interns.
  • Created statewide standards as the chair of the Utah Association of County Recorders Standards Committee.
  • Assembled a digital workflow process doubling productivity to recover from an inherited six month backlog of daily processing work.
  • Fabricated a new digital drafting process for Ownership Plats and training all mappers in the digital drafting process.
  • Digitized and published hundreds of thousands of public record documents previously only accessible by in person visits to the recorders office.
  • Implemented the Cache County Property Watch system, providing that title monitoring system to property owners free of charge and without increasing budget.

Chief Deputy Recorder/Surveyor – Weber County – 6 Years
2015 – 2020

  • Lead multiple team managers, along with directly overseeing my own team of employees, to achieve the goals of the department.
  • Trained employees in CAD drafting to map land records with maximum accuracy, and directly transfer the digital information into online land record maps.
  • Prepared department budget, gained approvals from commission, and implemented financial plans to achieve goals and maximize fiscal conservation.
  • Analyzed department processes and worked with the entire department to discover and conceptualize the best procedures to streamline effectiveness.
  • Presented training courses regarding property rights to other county recorders and surveyors in the Utah Association of Counties conferences and workshops.
  • Authored state legislation in 2019 which passed the legislature unanimously, that allows counties to better protect property rights through maintaining survey monuments.

Adjunct Professor of Land Development – Salt Lake Community College – 5 Years

Instructed students of surveying how the land development process works through a fifteen week upper level college course.
